You made a promise to your companion.
Our Heroes Promise is to help you keep it.
When your companion came into your life, you made a promise to protect them, care for them, and stand beside them.
A deployment, medical emergency, housing crisis, or life-changing hardship should not force you to break that promise.
The animals are the guardians. Heroes Promise is being built to give them a safe temporary home at our facilities when deployment, illness, crisis, or another life hardship separates them from the person they love.
While the crisis subsides, your guardian becomes part of our family. We preserve the bond you share through familiar routines, human connection, interaction, play, comfort, enrichment, and purposeful activities designed to feel like a game.
Our goal is reunion. When reunion is no longer possible, an accepted guardian may remain in the Heroes Promise Sanctuary—loved as family for the rest of their life.
Launching in Harford County, Maryland and building a community of care that can grow across the state.
Our services and formal assistance intake are coming soon. Right now, we are building the partnerships, resources, facilities, and community support needed to keep this promise for generations.

When a crisis separates a guardian from their person, we provide a safe temporary home at a Heroes Promise facility with family-centered care built around affection, interaction, play, comfort, and individual needs.
Reunion remains our goal. Care is designed to preserve the guardian’s routines, confidence, purpose, and connection to the person who made a promise to them.
When reunion is no longer possible, an accepted guardian may remain in our Sanctuary as a permanent member of the Heroes Promise family.
Active-duty service members, National Guard and Reserve members, veterans, military families, and Gold Star families.
Law enforcement officers, firefighters, emergency medical personnel, and other qualifying first responders.
Service animals and other eligible companion animals whose care is threatened by deployment, illness, housing instability, or crisis.
When resources and space permit, assistance may extend to civilians whose circumstances align with our charitable mission.
The Promise Care™ is The Heroes Promise Foundation’s universal standard of care. It is not a tier, upgrade, premium package, or separate level of service. Every animal entrusted to the Foundation receives the same VIP-level care, dignity, attention, and respect every day.
During qualifying crises, HPF provides safe temporary homing at Foundation facilities, protects the human-animal bond, and works toward reunification as the primary goal—until you are together again. HPF is not a commercial boarding kennel, public shelter, rescue, dealer, or general adoption organization.
Every animal entrusted to the Foundation receives the same dignity, attention, respect, and family-centered care every day—without tiers or upgrades.
We learn each guardian’s routines, personality, health needs, favorite activities, and the bond they share with their person so care remains individual and familiar.
While a qualifying crisis separates a guardian from their person, they are temporarily housed and cared for at a Heroes Promise facility with interaction, play, comfort, enrichment, veterinary coordination, and purposeful activities that feel like a game—not a job.
We preserve the human-animal bond and work toward reunification as the primary goal—until you are together again. If reunion becomes impossible, permanent Sanctuary acceptance may be considered case by case so the guardian can remain loved for life.
The animals are the guardians. Our Sanctuary exists for those who can no longer return to the person who loved them—not because the bond failed, but because life made reunion impossible.
Once accepted into the Sanctuary, they remain with us permanently as members of our family, surrounded by people who treat them as their own.
Every guardian will receive human connection, play, enrichment, comfort, and purposeful activities suited to their abilities. The work they once performed can become joyful games that keep their minds engaged and honor everything they have given.
Until you are together again. Family for life when reunion is not possible.
The physical Sanctuary will be developed responsibly in phases, but the commitment behind it begins now.
